If you’re looking for an itinerary for two days in Luang Prabang, you might be overwhelmed by all your options. Even though it’s a small town, there’s still more than enough to see and do for a week. Of course, not everyone has this amount of time available to just travel around. With this 2 Days in Luang Prabang Itinerary, you will cover the most epic places and experiences.

We will pick you up from your hotel at 8:30 morning or 12:30 noon. After a brief introduction from the guide, we start kayaking on the Nam Ou River. We enjoy a breathtaking view of the tranquil countryside and see nature-built limestone cliffs called Pha Aen on the way. 1-hour kayaking takes us to the first destination at the confluence of the Nam Ou and Mekong Rivers, Pak Ou. We visit the famous Pak Ou Caves – two linked caves crammed with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes left by devoted pilgrims. You’ll have time to explore them. Then we’ll continue kayaking, this time down the Mekong river itself. We will paddle down the Mekong for 30 minutes until we end our journey at Manifa Elephant Camp. Shower and change clothes are available at Elephant Camp. Enjoy a buffet lunch at the restaurant with a view of the Mekong River and free-roaming elephants. (If you choose the option to start at noon, you will enjoy lunch first before kayaking) Return to Luang Prabang by car or boat.

Take a two-wheeled adventure going out of Luang Prabang city. Pedal on the road along the Mekong river trails to the temples and villages, rice paddies. In the afternoon, enjoy kayaking in the majestic nature on the Mekong River and its tributary, the Ou River, and visit the famous Pak Ou Caves. Learning about local villages and different aspects of life: farming cycle, vegetable grown, domestic animal farming with the warm and enthusiastic greet from friendly kids and locals.

Pick up at around 8:30 am from your hotel in Luang Prabang and head to Nam Ou Bridge, 30km north of Luang Prabang.　From there, we will begin cycling along the path along the Nam Ou and Mekong rivers. This cycling route to Manifa Elephant Camp is approximately 14 kilometers long and follows dirt and paved roads with little traffic and only used by locals. It’s flat except for about 50 meters of ups and downs along the way. Enjoy the scenery along the river and stop at villages to get a glimpse of farming and local life.

After a buffet lunch at Manifa Elephant Camp, we start kayak on the Nam Ou River. We enjoy a breathtaking view of the tranquil countryside and see a wonderful nature built limestone cliffs called Pha Aen on the way. 1 hour kayaking takes us to the first destination the confluence of the Nam Ou and Mekong Rivers, Pak Ou. Return to Luang Prabang with a sunset boat cruise. It is a boat trip of about 25km and one and a half hours. After stopping at Ban Xang Hai (Whiskey Village) on the way, we headed towards Luang Prabang while watching the beautiful sunset. Upon arrival, we will transfer you to your hotel.

We visit the famous Pak Ou Caves – two linked caves crammed with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes left by devoted pilgrims. Exploring the caves about 30 min, we start the second course of the kayaking on the Mekong River. We paddle down the Mekong for 30 minutes until we ended our journey at Manifa Elephant Camp. There we enjoy a beautiful buffet style lunch at the restaurant – overlooking the Mekong River and free-roaming elephants.

After lunch break, this adventure destination package takes you to Kuang Si Waterfall – you will have time to explore the three layered Kuang Si Waterfall walk the trails of the nature reserve and swim in the refreshing turquoise water pools and visit the bear rescue center.

Our way back into Luang Prabang we make a stop at Ban Na Uan hmong village where you have the chance to experience Hmong village life, meet some of the local people and see the makings of their traditional embroidery crafts. From here it is time to make our way into town, typically this is between 5:30pm – 6:00pm – drop off location is at the post office on the main street, near the night market or at your accommodation by prior arrangement or on request

We depart from your accommodation at 8:30 am by Minivan to Ban Hat Kor for about 1 hour. From the village, we start kayaking on the Nam Ou River. We enjoy a breathtaking view of the tranquil countryside and see picturesque nature-built limestone cliffs called Pha Aen. We stop for a delicious picnic lunch at around noon.

After lunch and taking a relaxing break and swim, we carry onward once again. We continue paddling in a calmer section of the Nam Ou and then get to the confluence of the Nam Ou and Mekong rivers, Pak Ou.

Upon arrival at Pak Ou, we visit the famous Pak Ou Caves – two linked caves crammed with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes left by devoted pilgrims. Exploring the caves for about 30 minutes, we start kayaking on the Mekong River. We paddle down the Mekong for 30 minutes until we ended our Kayak at Manifa Elephant Camp. There you can take a shower and change your clothes. In the late afternoon, we will take a boat to Luang Prabang. Enjoy the beautiful sunset over the Mekong River.
