We will pick you up at your accommodation between 8:00 and 8:30 am. and depart for Manifa Elephant Camp. Along the way, stop at Ban Xang Hai (Whiskey Village), also known as Whiskey Village. Here, you can see the making process of Lao Lao, the country’s beloved rice whiskey, and maybe even enjoy an early morning tasting.

Then, continue to Manifa Elephant Camp for an elephant ride (using a two-seater chair) and feeding experience. After about an hour of experience, transfer by boat to Pak Ou Caves on the Mekong River. Along the way, you will witness breathtaking views of the tranquil countryside and mystical nature. After a 30-minute boat ride, you will arrive at Pak Ou, the confluence of the Mekong and Nam Ou Rivers. Pak Ou Caves are two connected caves filled with thousands of lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes left by devout pilgrims.

After approximately 40 minutes exploring the cave, the boat will enter the Ou River to see the spectacular limestone cliffs. Then a 30-minute boat ride down the Mekong River will take us to Manifa elephant camp for lunch. Enjoy a buffet lunch at the restaurant with a view of the Mekong River and free-roaming elephants.

This adventure destination package takes you to Kuang Si Waterfall. We will have 2 hours to explore the three-tiered waterfall, walk along a nature preserve trail, swim in refreshing turquoise puddles, and visit a bear conservation center.

On our way back into Luang Prabang, we will stop at Ban Na Uang (Hmong resettlement village). Here you can meet the Hmong people who originally lived in the highlands. After returning to Luang Prabang, drop-off points are the post office on the main street, near the night market, or at your accommodation (by prior arrangement or on request).

Take a two-wheeled adventure going out of Luang Prabang city. Pedal on the road along the Mekong river trails to the temples and villages, rice paddies. In the afternoon, enjoy kayaking in the majestic nature on the Mekong River and its tributary, the Ou River, and visit the famous Pak Ou Caves. Learning about local villages and different aspects of life: farming cycle, vegetable grown, domestic animal farming with the warm and enthusiastic greet from friendly kids and locals.

Pick up at around 8:30 am from your hotel in Luang Prabang and head to Nam Ou Bridge, 30km north of Luang Prabang.　From there, we will begin cycling along the path along the Nam Ou and Mekong rivers. This cycling route to Manifa Elephant Camp is approximately 14 kilometers long and follows dirt and paved roads with little traffic and only used by locals. It’s flat except for about 50 meters of ups and downs along the way. Enjoy the scenery along the river and stop at villages to get a glimpse of farming and local life.

After a buffet lunch at Manifa Elephant Camp, we take a long tail slow boat to trip on the mighty Mekong river. Enjoy the many views from the water, witness rural Laos, pass by local villages, fishers, and children and soak up the scenes of daily life by the river. Our boat travels slowly along the Mekong to Pak Ou Caves. We arrive at a small boat landing dock where stairs lead you straight to the cave. These limestone caves have been places of worship for thousands of years, and Buddhist statues and idols have filled these natural caves. Hear legends and stories about the caves from your guide and explore the caves.

After visiting the caves, the boat will enter the Ou River to see the spectacular limestone cliffs. Back on the Mekong River again, we go down the river a 30-minute and a bit. Our trip makes its last short stop at the Ban Xang Hai, also known as the Whisky Village. Here you see the process of making Lao Lao, the country’s beloved rice whiskey. Depart from Ban Xang Hai from 16 to 16:30 and slowly return to Luang Prabang for an hour and a half to two hours. You can see the beautiful sunset from the boat.
We will get to Luang Prabang between 5:30 pm – 6:00 pm. Drop-off points are the post office on the main street, near the night market, or at your accommodation (by prior arrangement or request).

Join local pilgrims for a glimpse into the daily Buddhist beliefs of the people.

Next, we will go temple hopping in the neighborhood. At Wat Sene, where there is a school for novice monks, you may meet again with novice monks you met on the morning alms.  Afterwards, we will visit the Royal Palace museum.  It houses a lot of interesting historical items. Every item tells a story…so you will learn quite a lot from your guide about Lao history and about Laos’ royal.

The morning tour ends with a climb up Phousi Hill. Rising 150m in the centre of town, you enjoy spectacular 360 degree views across the city and its many temples, and over the surrounding landscape to the mountains in the distance. You will be taken to the city center or to your hotel to complete the tour.

Transfer to Manifa Elephant Camp by minivan. Lunch will be served there. After lunch, board the boat from the elephant camp. we will enjoy cruising along the Mekong River to Pak Ou Caves. The afternoon begins with a visit to the papermaking village of Ban Xang Khong on the Mekong River just outside Luang Prabang; after learning about the history of the war at the UXO Lao Visitor Center, we will visit Wat Wisunarat, the oldest temple in Luang Prabang. The day ends with a climb up Phousi Hill. Rising 150m in the centre of town, you enjoy spectacular 360 degree sunset views across the city and its many temples, and over the surrounding landscape to the mountains in the distance.

The dress code at the Royal Palace is strict and all visitors are asked to dress conservatively, with no exceptions. Both men and women wearing short skirts or shorts are kindly asked to cover up before entering.

2 Days 1 Night

Day 1

Your tour guide will pick you up from your accommodation in Luang Prabang around 8:30-9:00 AM, then we drive to southeast of Luang Prabang about 30 min and arrive at Ban Huai Pheng Village. Starting from this village where Khmu and Hmong people live together, we will walk 3 km to Nong Kouay village, and in the afternoon we will walk 8-10 km from Nong Kouay village to Long Lao village. Hiking about 12 km on the first day. After arriving at the village, you will tour with your guide to see how the Hmong and Khmu people live together and settle into your homestay. Enjoy a dinner of local food. At night, you will be able to see the beautiful starry sky.

Day2

After breakfast We will leave the homestay house and head to Kuang Si Falls. We enter into jungle forests. Trekking across rice paddies, the orchards, farm land and forest, we will see the beauty scenery of Luang Prabang countryside on the way. As we continue to trekking, we reach the mountainous jungle and find natural springs which are source of Kuang Si Waterfall around 3-4 hours. Then we take a rest to enjoy lunch at waterfall. We explore the three layered Kuang Si waterfall walk the trails of the nature reserve and swim in the refreshing turquoise water pools and also visit the Bear Rescue Center. In the late afternoon we visit Kuang Si Butterfly park to see Laos’ myriad butterflies. From here we drive back to Luang Prabang and send back to your accommodation or city center between 5:30-6:00 PM.

3 Days 2 Nights

Day 1

Your tour guide will pick you up from your accommodation in Luang Prabang around 8:30-9:00 AM, then we drive to southeast of Luang Prabang about 30 min and arrive at Ban Phone Xay village or Ban Ber Hok (No 6 village). Starting from this village, we will walk 4-5 hours, 10 km to Nong Kouay village. The paths along the way are picturesque and magnificent. With a stop for a picnic lunch, we will spend the day in the jungle, crossing streams, walking through bamboo forests, and climbing steep hills. After arriving in the village you will settle into your host family’s home and cook dinner. You will spend the night under the beautiful starry sky, interacting with the people of the village.

Day2

We will walk 8-10 km from Nong Kouay village to Long Lao village. After arriving at the village, you will tour with your guide to see how the Hmong and Khmu people live together and settle into your homestay.

Day3

After breakfast We will leave the homestay house and head to Kuang Si Falls. We enter into jungle forests. Calculation formula: For the first person or solo traveler, the price is 175 euros (2 days), 254 euros (3 days). For each additional person, 55 euros (2 days) and 74 euros (3 days) will be added to the price for the first person. (2 days tour with 3 people 175+55X2=285 285÷3=€95)

If there are other participants in your group, the difference will be refunded to your card after the tour ends. 

If a party consist of a solo traveler and 2 other participants and these 3 people travel for 2 days together, the price per person is €95. The solo traveler can request a refund of €80 on the card you paid €175 to. (175-95=€80) The other two participants can also request a refund of 230-190 = 40 euros on the card they paid €230 to.

This tour does not run every day and is usually just for your group. Therefore, please do not book with the expectation of discounts from other participants.
