After the tour date, plan your own itinerary in advance: you can join our tour from Nong Khiaw to Luang Prabang for returning to Luang Prabang, or you can arrange activities for your stay in Nong Khiaw or travel to other parts of Laos or Vietnam with our office in Nong Khiaw.</li>

<p>Get picked up from your hotel in Luang Prabang between 8:30-9:00 AM. Travel by van to the second dam on the Nam Ou River, then board the boat to Nong Khiaw. As we go upstream, secluded and natural scenery surround us. Admire the beautiful Nam Ou River valley surrounded by limestone mountains. Enjoy a boxed &#8220;bento&#8221; style Lao lunch on board. In the afternoon, disembark for a village visit, followed by a short hike to 100 Waterfalls (only available from the rainy season until around December) or Tad Mok Waterfall (all other seasons). The boat ride will take you to Nong Khiaw just before dusk, where you&#8217;ll watch a beautiful sunset over the Nam Ou River. The tour ends at the river bank nearest to your Nong Khiaw hotel.</p>

<h4>Day 1 Luang Prabang arrival, Airport Pickup, Half Day Tour<hr class="normal"/></h4>

<h4>Day 2 Luang Prabang City, Pak Ou Caves, Mekong River Cruise<hr class="normal"/></h4>

You will have a brief introduction to Luang Prabang, standing where the Nam Khan River meets the Mekong River. From there, walk to the famous<strong> <a href="https://goo.gl/maps/ToA2TwdmrVbLsLwX7">Wat Xieng Thong</a></strong> temple. For centuries, the temple was considered the ceremonial gateway to the city and was the arrival and departure point for foreign dignitaries. We will walk up the stairs to the main gate and enter the temple like ancient dignitaries.</p>
<p>Next, we will go temple hopping in the neighborhood. At Wat Sene, where there is a school for novice monks, you may meet again with novice monks you met on the morning alms. Finally, we will visit the <a href="https://goo.gl/maps/D2wHi2WnuPbEcCGx9">Royal Palace museum</a>. It houses a lot of interesting historical items. Every item tells a story…so you will learn quite a lot from your guide about Lao history and about Laos’ royal.<hr class="normal"/></p>

In the afternoon we will visit <a href="https://goo.gl/maps/F5ewa6qREPgRp7ia7">Pak Ou Caves</a> by boat. We will see 4000 Buddha icons in the caves overlooking the Mekong River. After a stop at a village where Laotian rice wine is made, enjoy a two-hour sunset cruise on the Mekong River back to Luang Prabang.</p>

<h4>Day 3 Trek to Kuang Si Waterfall</h4>

After seeing this village, we enter into jungle forests. Trekking across rice paddies, the orchards, farm land and forest, we will see the beauty scenery of Luang Prabang countryside on the way. As we continue to trekking, we reach the mountainous jungle and find natural springs which are source of Kuang Si Waterfall. Then we take a rest to enjoy lunch.<hr class="normal"/></p>

<p>After lunch, another half hour trek take us to the crystal clear Kuang Si Waterfall. We explore the three layered Kuang Si waterfall walk the trails of the nature reserve and swim in the refreshing turquoise water pools and also visit the Bear Rescue Center. On the way back to Luang Prabang, we stop at a Hmong village. Retuurn to your accommodation or city center between 5:30-6:00 PM.</p>
<p>Instead of the above-mentioned 4-hour trek starting from <a href="https://goo.gl/maps/bJyo3GemjSX8Db1WA">Ban Long Lao</a> village, delay pick up time and take an easier 2-hour trek alternative starting from <a href="https://goo.gl/maps/ZbyxLta2MXzpr4Cr9">Ban Nong Heo</a> is also possible if you request.</p>

On the way, stop at <a href="https://goo.gl/maps/DHt3ZLfd2ihe1LYU9">Ban Nayang</a>, a village of the Lue people, for lunch. You’ll also have time to walk through a well-preserved village of beautiful traditional houses and see how textiles are made. Arriving at Nong Khiaw in the afternoon, we will hike to <a href="https://goo.gl/maps/DfKSi8QDsMSuqMMB8">Pha Som Nang View Point</a> (about 30 min light climbing). Take in views of the town on the Nam Ou River surrounded by karst mountains and a picturesque sunset. Transfer to your hotel in Nong Khiaw.</p>

We then trek to the <a href="https://goo.gl/maps/GrSShhwSHMVCRhX7A"><b>Tham Kang</b></a>, where according to local legend, a Naga resides to the rear. We then continue through rice paddy fields onto the Lao Loum village of <a href="https://goo.gl/maps/1zjyh4G99gj2Dfr48"><b>Ban Na</b></a>, which is only accessible by foot, so retains much of its original character. <span style="font-weight: 400;">After lunch, we continue to walk to Ban Houaysene or Ban Houaybor. Afterwards, return to Muang Ngoy and take a boat back to Nong Khiaw. Transfer to your hotel in Nnng Khiaw.</span></p>

On the way, stop at <a href="https://goo.gl/maps/DHt3ZLfd2ihe1LYU9">Ban Nayang</a>, a village of the Lue people, for lunch. You’ll also have time to walk through a well-preserved village of beautiful traditional houses and see how textiles are made. Arriving at Nong Khiaw in the afternoon, we will hike to <a href="https://goo.gl/maps/DfKSi8QDsMSuqMMB8">Pha Som Nang View Point</a> (about 30 min light climbing). Take in views of the town on the Nam Ou River surrounded by karst mountains and a picturesque sunset. Transfer to your hotel in Nong Khiaw.</p>

We then trek to the <a href="https://goo.gl/maps/GrSShhwSHMVCRhX7A"><b>Tham Kang</b></a>, where according to local legend, a Naga resides to the rear. We then continue through rice paddy fields onto the Lao Loum village of <a href="https://goo.gl/maps/1zjyh4G99gj2Dfr48"><b>Ban Na</b></a>, which is only accessible by foot, so retains much of its original character. <span style="font-weight: 400;">After lunch, we continue to walk to Ban Houaysene or Ban Houaybor. Afterwards, return to Muang Ngoy and stay at a guesthouse in Muang Ngoy.</span></p>

After a lunch break,  continue trekking to the village of Ban Sopkong. Overnight homestay in a beautiful small village on the Nam Ou River.</p>

(Optional: After lunch, we will board our kayaks for a 2-hour ride through the beautiful scenery of the Nam Ou River.) The boat will then depart for Nong Kiao. Upon arrival at Nong Kiau, the tour ends at sunset.</p>

Pha Thok Cave is a series of caves in a limestone cliff where villagers and Pathet Lao eluded bombing during the Second Indochina War. Then you will depart from Nong Khiaw to <a href="https://g.page/manifa-elephant-camp?share"><b>Manifa Elephant Camp</b></a> by a 2 hour drive. You will be offered a delicious buffet lunch at the restaurant overlooking the Mekong river and meet elephants roaming free. In the afternoon we will visit <a href="https://goo.gl/maps/F5ewa6qREPgRp7ia7">Pak Ou Caves</a> by boat. We will see 4000 Buddha icons in the caves overlooking the Mekong River. You will be offered a delicious buffet lunch at the restaurant overlooking the Mekong river and meet elephants roaming free. <p>This morning begins early in the morning (5:15 am in March to October and 05:45 in November to February. There is also an option without Alms giving). We pick you up from your hotel and you have a fantastic opportunity together with the locals to witness the captivating centuries old daily tradition of the alms giving ceremony. Following that, we visit local morning market. You return to your hotel for breakfast around 7;00.</p>
<p>We will pick you up again at 8:30 and take you to  a small park on the peninsula tip. You will have a brief introduction to Luang Prabang, standing where the Nam Khan River meets the Mekong River. From there, walk to the famous<strong> <a href="https://goo.gl/maps/ToA2TwdmrVbLsLwX7">Wat Xieng Thong</a></strong> temple. For centuries, the temple was considered the ceremonial gateway to the city and was the arrival and departure point for foreign dignitaries. We will walk up the stairs to the main gate and enter the temple like ancient dignitaries.</p>
<p>Next, we will go temple hopping in the neighborhood. At Wat Sene, where there is a school for novice monks, you may meet again with novice monks you met on the morning alms. Finally, we will visit the <strong><a href="https://goo.gl/maps/D2wHi2WnuPbEcCGx9">Royal Palace museum</a></strong>. It houses a lot of interesting historical items. Every item tells a story…so you will learn quite a lot from your guide about Lao history and about Laos’ royal.</p>
<p>Transfer to<strong> <a href="https://goo.gl/maps/v6AgQw39z3WYFNsq8">Manifa Elephant Camp</a></strong> for lunch. You will be offered a delicious buffet lunch at the restaurant overlooking the Mekong river and meet elephants roaming free. In the afternoon we will visit <a href="https://goo.gl/maps/F5ewa6qREPgRp7ia7">Pak Ou Caves</a> by boat. We will see 4000 Buddha icons in the caves overlooking the Mekong River. After a stop at a village where Laotian rice wine is made, enjoy a two-hour sunset cruise on the Mekong River and return to Luang Prabang.</p>

Then, we will have the chance to join in an easy hike in the countryside, pass over hills, and through forests and plantations, with nice viewpoints to stop at along the way. You can refresh yourself with some fresh sugar cane that can be picked directly from the field to taste the juice. After a 2-hour walk in the beautiful natural environment, we will arrive at Ban Thapene, a village which sits at the foot of the stunning <b>Kuang Si Waterfalls</b>.</p>
<p>Enjoy lunch at the nearby private waterfall <strong><a href="https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g295415-d12637314-Reviews-Carpe_Diem_Restaurant-Luang_Prabang_Luang_Prabang_Province.html">Carpe Diem Restaurant</a></strong>. On the way back to Luang Prabang, we will visit the village of the Hmong people.</p>
<p>After returning to the hotel and resting for a while, finish your day by climbing up <strong>Phousi Mountain</strong>. Rising 150m in the centre of town, Mount Phousi cuts a distinctive figure on the Luang Prabang skyline. The hill is a popular as a place to watch the sunset. From the summit you enjoy spectacular 360 degree sunset views across the city and its many temples, and over the surrounding landscape to the mountains in the distance. Stroll around the<strong> night market</strong> and have some free time for dinner before being dropped off at your hotel.</p>

<p>After taking you from Vang Vieng Station to your hotel, you will take a break for lunch. We head off to the Nam Song River to enjoy a relaxing <strong>Tubing or</strong> <strong>kayaking</strong> trip in the diverse nature and landscapes of Vang Vieng.</p>

Tham Phu Kham Cave and Blue Lagoon is an improvised eco-water park in a scenic village close to Vang Vieng. Observe sharp stalactites and stalagmites as you descend down steep walls to reach the largest hall of the cave, which holds the bronze statue of a reclining Buddha, with several other smaller Buddha images revered by locals. The green-blue waters of the lagoon outside the cave provide a beautiful relaxation spot, as well as the opportunity to re-live your younger years as you jump off a tree into the water. During your tour, you can also try your hand at abseiling one of the water slides. You will be transferred back to the city and have time for lunch.</p>

<p>Free time in the morning in Vang Vieng, we head to the railway station at noon for an hour train ride to Vientiane. Transfer from Vientiane station to the hotel and check-in at the hotel. Afterwards, visit the main destinations of the city: <a href="https://goo.gl/maps/xpWZZzabHCEcsQEb8">Wat Sisaket</a>, the oldest temple with thousands of miniature Buddha statues, and <a href="https://goo.gl/maps/CnhDuXYsQZiFhRWm8">Wat Phra Keo</a>, the former royal temple where the famous Emerald Buddha statue was located. On the way to the famous sacred structure, the <a href="https://goo.gl/maps/bvoxDEj32HziqPwx8">That Luang Stupa</a>, a national treasure of Laos, we will also have the opportunity to photograph the imposing <a href="https://goo.gl/maps/arVKtEtzmbB55NiY8">Patuxai Monument</a>, known as the Arc de Triomphe of Vientiane.  We will guide you through Vientiane night market. After you enjoy your free time in the evening, we will drop you off at your hotel.</p>

<p>We will meet you at the immigration office in Hay Xai Thai boarder  Our minivan will bring you to the boat pier for your cruise.</p>
<p>Huay Xai is an important landmark of Laos. Take the position as the border crossing town, it is also the capital of the Bokeo Province up north of the country. You will embark on the cruise this morning at 9:30 AM at the port.</p>
<p>After the brief welcome reception and an hour of sailing, we stop at one of a typical but charming little village by the river. Take the chance to interact with the curios folks and learn about their simple yet hard-working life.</p>
<p>Return back on board and some times later, we enjoy lunch on board.</p>
<p>The afternoon is spent leisurely on board as we approach Pak Beng in the afternoon. Arrival before sunset, check-in to your hotel.</p>
<h3>Day 2 Pak Beng &#8211; Luang Prabang</h3>
<p>Enjoy the early breakfast at the hotel as you take in the fresh air and the new sunlight. Return back on board at 8:00 AM for a long day of sailing to reach Luang Prabang in the afternoon.<br />
After a few hour of the journey, we leave the ship to make a hiking trip to a hill tribe of Baw. Here you can have a taste of the traditional Lao whiskey.</p>
<p>After an hour of visiting, return back on board to continue sailing and enjoy lunch on board.</p>
<p>Spend the early afternoon resting and observing the life on the bank before we reach Pak Ou at around 3:30 PM. Pak Ok Caves is the home to over two thousand Buddha images in all shapes and sizes and the ideal pilgrimage for Laos people from all over the country.</p>
<p>After the visit, we return back on board to finish the journey. Arrive at Luang Prabang at 5:00 PM. Your tour ends with a van transfer from the Luang Prabang pier to your hotel.</p>

<p>You will embark on the cruise this morning at 7:00 AM at the port.</p>
<p>First stop of the day is to the Pak Ou Caves (Tham Ting)  at around 8:30 PM. Pak Ok Caves is the home to over two thousand Buddha images in all shapes and sizes and the ideal pilgrimage for Laos people from all over the country.</p>
<p>Laos Traditional lunch set is served.</p>
<p>In the afternoon, you have a quick visit to Ban Baw village where is home to three ethnicities Lao Loun, Shan and Tai Lue. The village is also famous for Laos Whiskey making.</p>
<p>We will reach Pak Beng at around 4:30 PM this afternoon. We will leave the boat and are transfered to your hotel.</p>
<h3>Day 2 Pak Beng -Huay Xai</h3>
<p>Enjoy the early breakfast at the hotel as you take in the fresh air and the new sunlight. Return back on board at 7:30 AM for a long day of sailing to reach Huay Xai in the afternoon.</p>
<p>We arrive at a hill tribe village at around 11:00 AM. Make a trek to this village as the guide explain to you about the living condition, the culture of these indigenous people in rural area.</p>
<p>Just before lunch, the boat will stop to visit a traditional Kamu village (Ban Houa Phalam), a tiny cozy place which host about 90 families.</p>
<p>Return back on board for lunch as we spend the afternoon leisure on board with some snacks to help you pass the time.</p>
<p>Then we reach Huay Xai at 4:30 PM, disembark from the cruise. You will then be transfer to your hotel in Huay Xai or the Lao Border Gate (possibility to continue the journey to Thailand on the same day).</p>

There is also an option without Alms giving). We pick you up from your hotel and you have a fantastic opportunity together with the locals to witness the captivating centuries old daily tradition of the <strong>alms giving ceremony</strong>. Following that, we visit local <strong>morning market</strong>.</p>
<p>You return to your hotel for breakfast around 7;00. We will pick you up again at 8:30 and take you to  a small park on the peninsula tip. You will have a brief introduction to Luang Prabang, standing where the Nam Khan River meets the Mekong River. From there, walk to the famous<strong> Wat Xieng Thong</strong> temple. For centuries, the temple was considered the ceremonial gateway to the city and was the arrival and departure point for foreign dignitaries. We will walk up the stairs to the main gate and enter the temple like ancient dignitaries.</p>
<p>Next, we will go temple hopping in the neighborhood. At <strong>Wat Sene</strong>, where there is a school for novice monks, you may meet again with novice monks you met on the morning alms. We will drive to <strong>Heuan Chan Heritage</strong>. There we will see a well preserved traditional Lao house and take a short break in their gardens. Finally, we will visit the <strong>Royal Palace museum</strong> as well as <strong>Wat Mai</strong>.</p>
<p>Visit the <strong>Ock Pop Tock</strong> weaving centre, run by an organization that offers local weavers the chance to earn a decent income with their weaving skills.</p>
<p>Lunch at <a href="https://goo.gl/maps/qEBka1qTc4fy75Q18" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ock Pop Tok Silk Road Café</a> (lunch not included. <p>Then visit <strong>Wat Wisunarat </strong>to see the oldest Buddhist temple in Luang Prabang<strong>, </strong>and then the <strong>UXO Center</strong> for those who want to learn more about war history. Then visit either <strong>Wat Pa Phon Phao</strong> or the Laos Traditional handicraft village <strong>Ban Xang Khong</strong> well knowned as paper village along the Mekong River.</p>
<p>Finish your day by climbing up <strong>Phousi Mountain</strong>. Rising 150m in the centre of town, Mount Phousi cuts a distinctive figure on the Luang Prabang skyline. The hill is a popular as a place to watch the sunset. From the summit you enjoy spectacular 360 degree views across the city and its many temples, and over the surrounding landscape to the mountains in the distance.</p>

<h3><a href="#">Day 3 Luang Prabang Kuang Si Waterfalls</a></h3>

Then, we will have the chance to join in an easy hike in the countryside, pass over hills, and through forests and plantations, with nice viewpoints to stop at along the way. You can refresh yourself with some fresh sugar cane that can be picked directly from the field to taste the juice. After a 2-hour walk in the beautiful natural environment, we will arrive at Ban Thapene, a village which sits at the foot of the stunning <b>Kuang Si Waterfalls</b>. Upon arrival, enjoy a lunch break at waterfall park. You will have time to enjoy magnificent waterfalls as well as bear rescue center.</p>

We will travel by train to Luang Prabang and in Luang Prabang we will board a minivan and drive to Nong Khiaw. Around noon, stopping at <a href="https://goo.gl/maps/yLNTYQKGa8Exo8tWA">Ban Nayang</a> village for lunch break. Stroll through a well-preserved Lu village of traditional houses and see handmade textile making.  Arriving at <a href="https://goo.gl/maps/XCH1jhsrS9nLM7gz7">Nong Khiaw</a> in the afternoon, we will hike to <a href="https://goo.gl/maps/cVtYiedisy7g19fS9">Pha Som Nang View Point</a> (about 30 min light climbing). Take in views of the town on the Nam Ou River surrounded by karst mountains and a picturesque sunset. Transfer to your hotel in Nong Khiaw.</p>

<h3><a href="#">Day 5 Nong Khiaw &#8211; Muang Ngoy Nam ou river cruise</a></h3>

We then walk 30 min to the <a href="https://goo.gl/maps/GrSShhwSHMVCRhX7A"><b>Tham Kang</b></a>, where according to local legend, a Naga resides to the rear. We then continue an hour through rice paddy fields onto the Lao Loum village of <a href="https://goo.gl/maps/1zjyh4G99gj2Dfr48"><b>Ban Na</b></a>, which is a typical village in the countryside where pigs and chickens roam freely. After lunch there, we can continue to walk to Ban Houaysene or Ban Houaybor. Afterwards, return to Muang Ngoy and take a boat back to Nong Khiaw.</p>

You will be offered a delicious buffet lunch at the restaurant overlooking the Mekong river and meet elephants roaming free. In the afternoon we will visit <a href="https://goo.gl/maps/F5ewa6qREPgRp7ia7">Pak Ou Caves</a> by boat. We will see 4000 Buddha icons in the caves overlooking the Mekong River. After visiting Ban Xang Hai, which is known for making Laotian rice whiskey, enjoy a two-hour sunset cruise on the Mekong River and return to Luang Prabang.</p>

From Pakse airport, drive to the <strong>Bolaven Plateau</strong>. The Bolaven Plateau was formed by an ancient volcano and is famous for its coffee and tea plantations. It is home to a number of tribal villages, some of them still practicing Stone Age cultures by using extremely primitive agricultural tools and conducting frequent spiritual ceremonies. Start with a visit to the <strong>Tad Fane waterfalls</strong>. Beyond the waterfall stretches the extensive jungle of Dong Hua Sao from where the perfectly synchronized twin falls originate and drop down a 200 meters deep gorge. Continue to the <strong>Tad Champi and Tad Yeung waterfalls</strong>, which drop an impressive 42 meters and are surrounded by lush vegetation. After visiting these impressive waterfalls, head to a tea and coffee plantation and learn why the Bolaven Plateau is an ideal area for these plantations. Transfer back to Pakse and continue to the boat pier for your boat cruise to Don Daeng Island, for your overnight. in Pakse.</p>

The pre-Angkorian <strong>Wat Phou</strong> temple was built between the 6th and 13th century and is situated on a hillside offering spectacular views of the surrounding plains and the Mekong River. The temple received World Heritage status from UNESCO in 2002 and is divided in two parts. The lower part consists of two ruined palace buildings at the edge of a pond, which was used for ritual ablutions. The upper section, the temple sanctuary itself, once enclosed a large Shiva phallus, known in Hindu religion as a linga but today is largely in ruins. It was later converted into a Buddhist temple but much of the original Hindu sculpture remains. The impressive Naga or snake-head lined stairway is surrounded by frangipani trees, the Lao national flower. Return to Don Daeng Island and have lunch at the hotel. Afterwards, free time in and around the hotel.</p>

<h3><a href="#">Day 10 Khong Islands 4000 Islands</a></h3>

The Si Phan Don (meaning 4 000 Islands) is a riverine archipelago located in the Mekong River, Champasak Province in southern Laos. Si Phan Don is characterized by numerous islands, half of which are submerged when the Mekong River is in flood. The principal islands of Si Phan Don are Don Khong (the largest), and Don Det and Don Khone.</p>
<p>You cross the Mekong by small boat to Ban Muang pier. From here, drive 1.5 hours overland in your private minivan towards the Cambodian border. First stop at a boat pier in Ban Nakasang, where you board a small boat to cruise to Don Khone Island. Here, you can hop on a tuk tuk or bicycle and visit the remnants of the French colonial area, including an old pier, a railway station, a former French hospital building and the maritime office. Enjoy lunch on the island and continue in the afternoon with a visit to the<strong> Liphi waterfalls</strong>, nicknamed the “Corridor of the Devil“. Local daredevils put fish traps at the bottom of the falls to catch fresh fish each day.</p>
<p>Return back to the mainland and visit the <strong>Khone Phapheng waterfalls</strong>. The falls are the main reason why the Mekong River is not navigable into China. The majestic sight of the falls is a highlight of southern Laos, covering an impressive 10 km stretch of the Mekong.</p>
<p>Return to the Ban Nakasang and transfer overland to the boat pier, to the boat that cruise back to your resort again.</p>

We visit major attractions such as <a href="https://goo.gl/maps/xpWZZzabHCEcsQEb8">Wat Sisaket</a>, the oldest temple with thousands of miniature Buddha statues, and <a href="https://goo.gl/maps/CnhDuXYsQZiFhRWm8">Wat Phra Keo</a>, the former royal temple where the famous Emerald Buddha statue was located. On the way to the famous sacred structure, the <a href="https://goo.gl/maps/bvoxDEj32HziqPwx8">That Luang Stupa</a>, a national treasure of Laos, we will also have the opportunity to photograph the imposing <a href="https://goo.gl/maps/arVKtEtzmbB55NiY8">Patuxai Monument</a>, known as the Arc de Triomphe of Vientiane. End your tour of the capital along the banks of the Mekong River. When the tour ends, you will be transferred back to your hotel.</p>

<h3>Day 3 Luang Prabang &#8211; Living Land Rice Farming Experience / Kuang Si waterfall or Hiking to Kuang Si Waterfalls (B, L)</h3>
<p>There are two options for this day. Both visit Kuang Si Falls in the afternoon. Morning activities are different. The first is a rice farming experience at <a href="https://livinglandlao.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Living Land Rice Farm</a> in the morning. Lunch is organic Laotian food on the farm. Another is a hike from nearby villages to the waterfalls. Lunch at <a href="https://goo.gl/maps/mdC7xoD5xiPkkTtA7" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Carpe Diem Restaurant</a> near the waterfall.</p>

Pickup at 8:00, we drive to Ban Phong Van about 5 km, among lush rice fields and overlooked by wooded hills and mountains to join in a <strong>Living Rice Farm</strong> where they grow organic vegetables, salads, herbs and rice and supply leading restaurants and hotels in Luang Prabang. Coming here you will be shown how rice is grown on the farm, experience the life of a farmer and try your hand at some of the activities. Or just view it all from the comfort of traditional Lao rice house balcony, which is surrounded by rice terraces and organic vegetable farm. All the family can join in and there are great photo opportunities. After experience in the farm, we enjoy <strong>Lao specialty lunch</strong> in separate area overlooking their rice fields. We taste typical Lao dishes.</p>
<p>At about 2:00 pm, this adventure destination package takes you to <strong>Kuang Si Waterfall</strong> – you will have time to explore the three layered Kuang Si Waterfall walk the trails of the nature reserve and swim in the refreshing turquoise water pools and visit the bear rescue center.</p>
<p>Our way back into Luang Prabang we make a stop at Ban Na Uan hmong village where you have the chance to experience Hmong village life, meet some of the local people and see the makings of their traditional embroidery crafts. From here it is time to make our way into town, typically this is between 5:30pm – 6:00pm – drop off location is at the post office on the main street, near the night market or at your accommodation by prior arrangement or on request.</p>

<p>Pickup from your hotel and the transfer to <span class="il">Ban</span> <span class="il">Nong</span> <span class="il">Heo</span>, we will have some time to discover the charming Khmu village, with its traditional houses, its water buffalo and free-range ducks walking around, and even the farmers and master blacksmiths dealing with their daily tasks. Then, we will have the chance to join in an easy hike in the countryside, pass over hills, and through forests and plantations, with nice viewpoints to stop at along the way. You can refresh yourself with some fresh sugar cane that can be picked directly from the field to taste the juice. After a 2-hour walk in the beautiful natural environment, we will arrive at <span class="il">Ban</span> Thapene, a village which sits at the foot of the stunning Kuang Si Waterfalls. Upon arrival, enjoy a lunch break at Carpe Diem Restaurant and have time to explore magnificent waterfalls. Then visit a bear rescue center. On the way back, we visit a Hmong village. Return to Luang Prabang from 5:30 to 6:00</p>

<h3>Day 4 Luang Prabang &#8211; Nong Khiaw (B, L)</h3>
<p>Pickup from a hotel in Luang Prabang at 8:30 am. About 3 hours drive, stopping at <strong>Ban Nayang</strong> village for lunch break. Village tour (optional: half-day workshop in the afternoon or overnight homestay in the village and workshop can be added) Arrive Nong Khiaw in the afternoon. Hike to <a href="https://goo.gl/maps/RHX1o3dQ1H3K2ExW8"><strong>Pha Daeng Peak Viewpoint</strong></a> after hotel check-in (about 1.5 hours light climbing). If climbing is difficult, we will guide you to another easily accessible viewpoint.</p>

<h3>Day 5 Nong Khiaw Nam Ou River Cruise / Muang Ngoy day trip (B, L)</h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">After breakfast, transfer by traditional boat up stream on Nam Ou river to </span><a href="https://goo.gl/maps/Nmw9xvSbt2MRDdZy7"><b>Muang Ngoy</b></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">. We then trek to the</span> <a href="https://goo.gl/maps/GrSShhwSHMVCRhX7A"><b>Tham Kang</b></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, where according to local legend, a Naga resides to the rear. We then continue through rice paddy fields onto the Lao Loum village of </span><a href="https://goo.gl/maps/1zjyh4G99gj2Dfr48"><b>Ban Na</b></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, which is only accessible by foot, so retains much of its original character. After lunch, we continue to walk to Ban Houaysene or Ban Houaybor. Afterwards, return to Muang Ngoy and take a boat back to Nong Khiaw.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">At 8:30, our minivan will pick you up and visit </span><a href="https://goo.gl/maps/AeQDiSTdALyvAk2j9"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Phathok Caves</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">. Pha Thok Cave is a series of caves in a limestone cliff where villagers and Pathet Lao eluded bombing during the Second Indochina War. Then you will depart from Nong Khiaw to </span><a href="https://g.page/manifa-elephant-camp?share"><b>Manifa Elephant Camp</b></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> by a 2 hour drive. You will be offered a delicious buffet lunch at the restaurant overlooking the Mekong river and meet elephants roaming free. In the afternoon we will visit </span><a href="https://goo.gl/maps/F5ewa6qREPgRp7ia7"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Pak Ou Caves</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> by boat. We will see 4000 Buddha icons in the caves overlooking the Mekong River. Enjoy a two-hour sunset cruise on the Mekong River and return to Luang Prabang.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Leaving Luang Prabang early in the morning, we will take the 8:30am Lao Airline QV513 from Luang Prabang Airport to Pakse. You will be warmly welcomed at Pakse Airport. Your guide will meet you at the airport. We will take a minivan at the airport, visit the fascinating pre-Angkorian ruins of <a href="https://goo.gl/maps/km5ij1psrTknvsed6">Wat Phu</a>, one of Southeast Asia&#8217;s most dramatically situated temples. We have time to explore these intriguing Khmer ruins, which are perched at the base of Mount Phu Kao.  In the afternoon, we will be transfered to a hotel in Champasak or Done Daeng Island and spend some free time exploring the surroundings.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">After spending a relaxing morning in Don Daeng, We will head to the 4000 islands. </span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> On the way, visit the pre-Angkorian site named Wat Tomo (Uo Moung). </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">Get on board a traditional boat to the peaceful islands of </span><a href="https://goo.gl/maps/genjQMmSW5KZ1MqY8"><b>Don Khon</b></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> and </span><a href="https://goo.gl/maps/RooULSY73yytkdJRA"><b>Don Det</b></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">. Following lunch, we continue our journey to the extreme south of Laos in the area of the 4000 islands. It dues its name because the Mekong becomes extremely wide and hosts many islands.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In the morning, we begin by re-tracing the French colonial-past, where some old colonial houses still stand and glimpse the first Lao railway with its own locomotive. We continue our exploration of the area of the</span> <a href="https://goo.gl/maps/YZWaxj4gRFmf2F9RA"><b>4000 islands</b></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> by boat and visit the beautiful </span><a href="https://goo.gl/maps/XrpiQvA8EacdpZyM9"><b>Liphi waterfall</b></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, also known as the Samphamith, which forms a natural border between Lao and Cambodia. We return to Ban Nakasang and drive to the famous waterfall of </span><a href="https://goo.gl/maps/JzWHqdypmSnZQkTF7"><b>Khone Phapeng</b></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> &#8211; the largest waterfall in South East Asia, also known as the &#8216;Niagara of the east&#8217;.</span></p>

<h3><b>Day 10: Bolaven Plateau &#8211; Pakse (B, L)</b></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Upon leaving Khong Island we continue our journey towards the </span><a href="https://goo.gl/maps/Y99a4sGm2f7N6JFw6"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Bolaven Plateau</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, located in the Annamite Mountain Range, which runs along Laos’ eastern border with Vietnam. The renowned coffee of Lao PDR is produced in this region. The climate of the plateau, with its cooler temperatures and abundant rainfall, make it the perfect place for coffee production. After viewing several cascading waterfalls &#8212; including the famous Tad Lo and Tad Fan Waterfalls &#8212; we&#8217;ll return to Pakse for an afternoon walk or visit to its local market. Transfer to your hotel in Pakse.</span></p>

<h3><strong>Day 11: Pakse &#8211; Luang Prabang or Vientiane</strong><b> (B)</b></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Enjoy free time in Pakse until it&#8217;s time for your flight to Luang Prabang or Vientiane (depending on your departure place).  Our minivans will transport you to and from the airport. Free time after checking in to the hotel.</span></p>
<p><em>There are flights from Pakse to Luang Prabang three times a week (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays) and the itinerary stays south for five days from Day 7 to Day 11. If your departure point (last day of the tour) is Luang Prabang and you choose to fly from Pakse to Luang Prabang on Day 11, Day 7 must be a Tuesday for this tour to run as planned. If Day 7 falls on Thursday and Saturday, the length of stay in the South should be reduced from 5 days to 4 days or extended to 6 days.</em></p>
<p><em>If you choose Vientiane as your departure point from Laos, Day 7 can be Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday as there are daily flights to Vientiane.</em></p>
<p><em>If you depart from Pakse to Ho Chi Minh or Siem Reap, the schedule will be similar to Luang Prabang as flights are only available on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.</em></p>
<h3>Day 12: Luang Prabang or Vientiane Departure</h3>
