The center has been a private non-profit making museum devoted to the different ethnic groups in Laos, exhibits items of ethnic clothing, religious artefacts, working tools. Wat Visoun and Wat Aham occupy a spacious corner at the intersection of Phommathat and Visounnarath Road, but the complex is probably best known for Wat That Makmo, literally the “watermelon stupa” because of its distinctive rounded shape. (20,000 kip/person)
Mount Phousi is a 100 m high hill in the center of the old town, located on the peninsula between the Mekong and Nam Khan rivers. 328 steps to the top will be an enjoyable exploration of the sacred, gilded stupa Wat Tham and see beautiful sunsets over the heritage town. (20,000 kip/person)
