Spend time your way at Kuang Si Waterfalls, then return to Luang Prabang on a relaxing Mekong sunset cruise. Choose a convenient afternoon visit or leave in the morning for more time to swim, explore, and unwind. With three departure options, you can shape the day around your preferred pace and journey.

At the falls, enjoy free time to discover the cascading waterfalls, swim in the designated turquoise pools, visit the Asiatic Black Bear Rescue Centre, or wander along shaded forest trails. The morning options give you extra time to explore beyond the main viewpoints, take a leisurely lunch break, and enjoy the scenery without rushing.

Choose your departure option

Afternoon Visit — 1:30 PM Departure
Begin with hotel pickup in Luang Prabang around 1:00 – 1:30 PM and travel by minivan to Kuang Si Waterfalls. Enjoy approximately two hours of free time at the falls—ideal for a shorter outing combining swimming, sightseeing, and a sunset on the Mekong.

Extended Visit by Minivan — 8:45 AM Departure
Leave your hotel around 8:15 – 8:45 AM and travel by minivan to Kuang Si Waterfalls. Arriving in the morning gives you the longest stay of the three options, with free time until the late-afternoon departure. Swim, explore the trails, take photographs, and find a quiet spot to relax, all at your own pace.

Scenic Boat Journey & Extended Visit — 9:30 AM Departure
Begin with hotel pickup around 9:00-9:30 AM and enjoy a scenic boat journey along the Mekong through the countryside outside Luang Prabang. Continue by minivan from the riverside to Kuang Si Waterfalls, arriving around 11:30 AM. Spend the rest of the afternoon enjoying the falls at your leisure before the late-afternoon departure.

All options: Rice Farm Visit & Sunset Cruise

In the late afternoon, continue to the Kuang Si Heritage Rice Farm to discover how water flowing from the falls nourishes the terraced rice paddies. Enjoy freshly pressed sugarcane juice and gain a glimpse of the connections between the surrounding forest, water, and local farming life.

Then board your boat for a sunset cruise back to Luang Prabang. Relax with a drink as you pass riverside villages and forested hills in the changing evening light. Arrive back in Luang Prabang around 6:30 PM, followed by transfer to your hotel.

• Park The falls are in a nature park. You will see large tropical trees and flowers you will probably never see in your country.
• Swimming  Dressing rooms are available. Shower and locker unavailable. Please take care of your valuables.
• Trail You can climb to the top of the waterfall to see the source of the waterfall. Left is the easy way. Right is the hard way. Be careful during the rainy season, as it can be slippery and sometimes completely flooded/inaccessible after heavy rain. Decent footwear is recommended. Please be sure to time your ascent accordingly.
