Kuang Si Falls Trek & Village Homestay: 2 or 3 Days (M05/M06)

Behind Kuang Si Waterfalls is the beautiful mountain range of Northern Laos, which is the source of its water. We will visit villages at the foot and middle of the mountains surrounded by the beautiful nature of Laos and have an opportunity to meet with the local hilltribe people through home stays. An adventurous trip to Kuang Si Waterfall that takes a local-only route that is different from the usual tourist route.

2 Days 1 Night (M05)

Day 1

Your tour guide will pick you up from your accommodation in Luang Prabang around 8:30-9:00 AM, then we drive to southeast of Luang Prabang about 30 min and arrive at Ban Huai Pheng Village. Starting from this village where Khmu and Hmong people live together, we will walk 3 km to Nong Kouay village, and in the afternoon we will walk 8-10 km from Nong Kouay village to Long Lao village. Hiking about 12 km on the first day. After arriving at the village, you will tour with your guide to see how the Hmong and Khmu people live together and settle into your homestay. Enjoy a dinner of local food. At night, you will be able to see the beautiful starry sky.

Day2

After breakfast We will leave the homestay house and head to Kuang Si Falls. We enter into jungle forests. Trekking across rice paddies, the orchards, farm land and forest, we will see the beauty scenery of Luang Prabang countryside on the way. As we continue to trekking, we reach the mountainous jungle and find natural springs which are source of Kuang Si Waterfall around 3-4 hours. Then we take a rest to enjoy lunch at waterfall. We explore the three layered Kuang Si waterfall walk the trails of the nature reserve and swim in the refreshing turquoise water pools and also visit the Bear Rescue Center.

The journey continues as we follow the water’s path to the Kuang Si Heritage Rice Farm. You’ll see firsthand the vital connection between the forest, the water, and the local way of life. Witness how the falls’ water irrigates the terraced paddies and taste fresh, traditionally pressed sugarcane juice.

Conclude your unforgettable day with a magnificent sunset cruise, returning to Luang Prabang around 6:30 PM. This gentle journey back on the Mekong perfectly captures the tranquil spirit of your adventure.

Note: The sunset cruise boat is shared with participants from other tours. If you prefer an earlier return, a minivan transfer is available instead of the cruise, arriving in Luang Prabang at around 5:30 PM.

3 Days 2 Nights (M06)

Day 1

Your tour guide will pick you up from your accommodation in Luang Prabang around 8:30-9:00 AM, then we drive to southeast of Luang Prabang about 30 min and arrive at Ban Phone Xay village or Ban Ber Hok (No 6 village). Starting from this village, we will walk 4-5 hours, 10 km to Nong Kouay village. The paths along the way are picturesque and magnificent. With a stop for a picnic lunch, we will spend the day in the jungle, crossing streams, walking through bamboo forests, and climbing steep hills. After arriving in the village you will settle into your host family’s home and cook dinner. You will spend the night under the beautiful starry sky, interacting with the people of the village.

Day2

We will walk 8-10 km from Nong Kouay village to Long Lao village. After arriving at the village, you will tour with your guide to see how the Hmong and Khmu people live together and settle into your homestay.

Day3

After breakfast We will leave the homestay house and head to Kuang Si Falls. We enter into jungle forests.
