Travel by car to the Kuang Si Falls and visit a Hmong village in the morning. After lunch in an elephant camp, the Mekong cruise to the Pak Ou Caves with a stop to taste rice whiskey and explore a cave. Kuang Si Waterfalls

This adventure destination package takes you to Kuang Si Waterfalls. These waterfalls are magnificent and impressive. Relax and enjoy the spectacular natural beauty of waterfalls. Water from upstream cascades down jagged limestone cliffs into turquoise blue pools of various sizes. We will have 2 hours to explore the three-tiered waterfall, walk along a nature preserve trail, swim in refreshing turquoise puddles, and visit a bear conservation center. Adventurous may walk up the steep path to the top of the falls for a spectacular view.

Ban Na Uang (a Hmong resettlement village)

Then drive for an afternoon boat cruise. On the way, we will stop at Ban Na Uang (a Hmong resettlement village). Here you can meet the Hmong people who originally lived in the highlands.

Restaurant @ Manifa elephant camp

When we arrive at Manifa Elephant Camp, we will get out of the car and have lunch. Enjoy a buffet lunch at the restaurant with a view of the Mekong River and free-roaming elephants.

Pak Ou Caves

Around 14:30, we take a long tail slow boat to trip on the mighty Mekong river. Enjoy the many views from the water, witness rural Laos, pass by local villages, fishers, and children and soak up the scenes of daily life by the river. Our boat travels slowly along the Mekong to Pak Ou Caves. We arrive at a small boat landing dock where stairs lead you straight to the cave. These limestone caves have been places of worship for thousands of years, and Buddhist statues and idols have filled these natural caves. Hear legends and stories about the caves from your guide and explore the caves.

Nam Ou River

After visiting the caves, the boat will enter the Ou River to see the spectacular limestone cliffs.

Ban Xang Hai (Whisky Village)

Back on the Mekong River again, we go down the river a 30-minute and a bit. Our trip makes its last short stop at the Ban Xang Hai, also known as the Whisky Village. Here you see the process of making Lao Lao, the country’s beloved rice whiskey, and taste the fresh local delights. Why not pick up a couple of bottles for later?

Mekong Sunset Cruise

Depart from Ban Xang Hai from 16 to 16:30 and slowly return to Luang Prabang for an hour and a half to two hours. You can see the beautiful sunset from the boat.

Luang Prabang

We will get to Luang Prabang between 5:30 pm – 6:00 pm. Drop-off points are the post office on the main street, near the night market, or at your accommodation (by prior arrangement or request).

There are different versions of this tour. The other version includes a Mekong River cruise in the morning and a visit to the waterfalls in the afternoon. The mornings in Luang Prabang are often cloudy and rainy in the rainy season, and winters are cold, so the alternative version may be better for swimming at the waterfalls. However, the morning boat trip is likely to be cloudy and the view of the Mekong River in the afternoon is better.
