Your Morning Journey

Get picked up from your Luang Prabang hotel between 8:30 and 9:00 AM. Travel by minivan to the Second Dam on the Nam Ou River, then board a boat and cruise upstream toward Nong Khiaw.

Enjoy the changing views of mountains, forested slopes, and riverside settlements before stopping at a village for a visit and a Lao lunch.

Choose Your Afternoon

• With the 100 Waterfalls hike: After lunch, set out on a guided waterfall hike, then return to the boat and continue to Nong Khiaw. Arrive at approximately 5:30 PM.
• Without hiking: Continue directly to Nong Khiaw by boat after lunch, arriving at approximately 2:30 PM. This option suits travelers who find hiking difficult or prefer a gentler day, with more time to settle in and enjoy Nong Khiaw.

Both options finish at the riverbank landing point nearest to your Nong Khiaw hotel.

🛶 Tour 2: Nong Khiaw to Luang Prabang (NK-2)

Nam Ou River Cruise & Riverside Lunch, with an Optional Mekong Adventure

Leave Nong Khiaw by river and enjoy the limestone scenery of the Nam Ou valley before lunch at Manifa Elephant Camp. Then choose a full afternoon exploring the Mekong or a direct minivan transfer to Luang Prabang.

Your Morning Journey

Meet at the Manifa Travel Nong Khiaw office at 9:30 AM, just off the bridge. Boat pickup is also available for guests staying at riverside hotels.

Cruise downstream on the Nam Ou River for approximately two hours, taking in the mountains, forested slopes, and riverside settlements. At the Second Dam, transfer to a minivan and continue to Manifa Elephant Camp for lunch beside the Mekong.

Choose Your Afternoon

• Mekong cruise, caves & sunset: Continue by boat, or kayak to Pak Ou Caves before rejoining the boat. Kayaking is available for a minimum of two participants at no additional charge. Explore the Buddha caves, visit a whiskey village, and cruise toward Luang Prabang in the evening light, with the chance to enjoy sunset on the river. Arrive just before 6:00 PM, followed by a hotel transfer.
• Direct transfer after lunch: Take an approximately 40-minute minivan journey from Manifa Elephant Camp to Luang Prabang, arriving at around 2:30 PM. Enjoy the morning cruise and riverside lunch, then spend the afternoon in town at your own pace.

The direct-transfer option does not include Pak Ou Caves, kayaking, the whiskey village, or the afternoon Mekong cruise.
