The Kuang Si Falls, sometimes spelled Kuang Xi or known as Tat Kuang Si Waterfalls, is a three levelled waterfall about 29 kilometres (18 mi) south of Luang Prabang. These waterfalls are a favorite side trip for tourists in Luang Prabang. The falls begin in shallow pools atop a steep hillside. These lead to the main fall with a 60 metres (200 ft) drop.

The best season to visit Kuang Si Waterfalls is during dry season (December – April) because the monsoon season has ended and the falls begin to settle. If you want to swim during the monsoon season, Tad Sae Waterfalls is a good alternative in Luang Prabang. Time of day to visit. During the tourist season in Luang Prabang (it’s winter), it’s crowded at any time, but mornings are often relatively empty. However, mornings in December-January can be too cold to swim.
(1) Tuk Tuk Tuk Tuk is a taxi used by locals. A vehicle that is a modified light truck. You can charter a round trip for about US$ 20-25.
(2) Motor Bike / Scooter You can rent one in town for around US$15 per day. (Plus the cost of petrol)

(4) Mountain Bike This is an exciting challenge for the adventurous traveler, because it is a bit of a daunting journey involving mountain crossing. The roads are all paved and there is very little heavy truck traffic, so it is safe once you are out of town. Mountain bikes can be rented for about $5.
(5) Our tours We offer several packages to visit Kuang Si waterfalls. These are door-to-door comprehensive guided small group packages with fixed rates. Our tours, which include visits to both Kuang Si Waterfalls and Pak Ou Caves, as well as a cruise on the Mekong River, are popular for their content and affordability.
(1) Park The beautiful waterfalls are surrounded by a park, where you can see large tropical trees and flowers.
(2) Swimming Dressing rooms are available for changing clothes. Showers and lockers are not provided. Please take care of your valuables.
(3) Trail You can climb to the top of the falls where there are more natural pools. 2 walking trail ways. The left is easier. The right is challenging. If you want to go back and forth on the left and right paths and enjoy the pool at the top, think about the hour or more it will take. For those who want to enjoy adventure trekking at Kuang Si Waterfalls, we recommend our tour. This is a 3-4 hour trek that starts from a nearby ethnic minority village and heads to the falls. You will be accompanied by a guide who is familiar with the nature of the area, so you will have a better understanding of the nature and people’s lives.
(4) Bear rescue centre cares for a number of Asiatic Black Bears that have been rescued by the Lao authorities from the illegal wildlife trade. They are supported by Free The Bears Fund Inc. (an Australian charity) and does not charge an entrance fee.
(1) Kuang Si Butterfly Park Situated 300m before the entry of Kuang Si Waterfall. Kuang Si Butterfly Park is a project that was initiated in January 2014 from 2 Dutch passionate people from Holland. The mission is to create a research centre studying and publishing about Laos butterflies, host plants and preservation because of environmental issues in Laos.
(2) Hmong village There is a Hmong village on the way to the waterfall from Luang Prabang. They wear Hmong traditional costume and introduce their culture to visitors.
(3) Carpe Diem Restaurant Beautiful restaurant in a marvelous setting downstream from the Kuang Si waterfalls.
(4) Laos Buffalo Dairy is the very first social enterprise in Laos producing cheese, ice cream, cakes, yoghurt and milk shakes made out of buffalo milk.
(5) Ock Pop Tok Living Craft Center is located near the starting point for Kuang Si Waterfalls in the city. There is a café and craft workshop with a beautiful tropical garden along the Mekong River. It is a good place to stop and rest on the way back from the waterfalls.
(6) The Living Land Farm is a tourist destination where visitors can experience rice farming for half a day. Advance reservation is required. An itinerary that includes a rice farming experience in the morning and a visit to Kuang Si Waterfalls in the afternoon is worth considering.
