Luang Prabang World Heritage & Kuang Si Waterfalls (F23)

This full-day tour combines a Luang Prabang city tour with an afternoon excursion to Kuang Si Waterfall. In Luang Prabang, you will visit various temples and royal palaces and learn about Lao history culture and local life. Walking with a local guide, you will hear stories about the history of the temples and the city, Buddhist stories and legends painted all over the walls of the temples, and more, giving you a taste of Luang Prabang’s culture. In the afternoon, we will head to Kuang Si Waterfall. There will be time to bathe in the emerald green waterfalls and visit a bear rescue center. On the way back, we will visit a Hmong village and have the opportunity to meet the ethnic minorities and get a glimpse of their culture.

Joint tour requires a minimum of 2 people, solo travelers should enquire the day before. We will only accept reservations if there is already a reservation for another group.

• Laos is a very sunny place, so we recommend wearing sunscreen and a hat when going outside.
• During sightseeing, you will enter the temple. Please do not wear revealing clothing as this is a sacred place.

You will get up early in the morning (5-30 – 5:45, sunrise time) and have a fantastic opportunity together with the locals to witness the captivating centuries old daily tradition of the alms giving ceremony. Following that, we will visit the local morning market. You return to your hotel for breakfast around 7;00.

We will pick you up again at 8:30 and take you to  a small park on the peninsula tip. You will have a brief introduction to Luang Prabang, standing where the Nam Khan River meets the Mekong River. From there, walk to Wat Xieng Thong, the most revered temple in the country. Learn from your guide the typical architecture of the Luang Prabang style temples with their spectacular low sweeping roofs. Join local pilgrims for a glimpse into the daily Buddhist beliefs of the people.

Next, we will go temple hopping in the neighborhood. At Wat Sene, where there is a school for novice monks, you may meet again with novice monks you met on the morning alms.  Afterwards, we will visit the Royal Palace museum.  It houses a lot of interesting historical items. Every item tells a story…so you will learn quite a lot from your guide about Lao history and about Laos’ royal.

The morning tour ends with a climb up Phousi Hill. Rising 150m in the centre of town, you enjoy spectacular 360 degree views across the city and its many temples, and over the surrounding landscape to the mountains in the distance. You will be taken to the city center or to your hotel to complete the tour.

After morning tour in the city, we have free time for lunch break. We meet again about two o’clock, head to Kuang Si Waterfalls. We will have some free time at the waterfalls. Spend time to explore the three-layered Kuang Si Waterfall, walk the nature preserve trails, swim in the refreshing turquoise pools of water, and visit the Bear Rescue Center.

Our way back into Luang Prabang, we stop at Ban Na Uan, a Hmong village where you have the chance to experience Hmong village life, meet some of the local people and see the makings of their traditional embroidery crafts. From here it is time to make our way into town, typically this is between 5:30pm – 6:00pm.

If the minimum number of participants is not reached, the entire tour will be canceled (full refund) or only the morning city tour will be canceled (the difference from the €11 for the afternoon waterfall tour will be refunded).

Private tours:

Calculation: €110 for solo traveler or first person in group. For group of 2 or more,  €10 for each additional person. Free for child under 3 (or less than 110 cm tall) . 12 people maximum

Optional airport and train station transfers

We provide transfers between Luang Prabang Airport and Luang Prabang Railway Station and hotels in Luang Prabang city. The vehicle is an air-conditioned minivan, and no guide will accompany you. Please select transfer as an option on the booking form and write your request details such as flight number and arrival/departure time in the message field on the next page. For round trip transfers please select 2 options. For private tour, pick-up and drop-off from the station on the day of the tour will be free of charge.

On Pick-up, a Manifa Travel vehicle will wait at the exit of Luang Prabang Airport or Luang Prabang High Speed ​​Railway Station, and a staff member will wait at the exit with a paper with your name on it and take you to your hotel in Luang Prabang city. Pick-up on the day of the tour is only available for private tour and arrival in Luang Prabang in the morning before 10:00.

On dropping off, we will drop you off from your hotel in Luang Prabang to the entrance of Luang Prabang Airport or Luang Prabang High Speed ​​Railway Station after the end of the tour or on a designated day after that. On the day of the tour, drop-off is only available for the winter VN930 flight to Hanoi departing at 7:20 p.m. at the airport, and the last train to Vientiane at 7:00 p.m. on the high speed railway. Please check out of the hotel and leave all your luggage before the tour so that you can move quickly after the tour.
