Kuang Si Waterfalls
The Kuang Si Falls, sometimes spelled Kuang Xi or known as Tat Kuang Si Waterfalls, is a three levelled waterfall about 29 kilometres (18 mi) south of Luang Prabang. These waterfalls are a favorite side trip for tourists in Luang Prabang. The falls begin in shallow pools atop a steep hillside. These lead to the main fall with a 60 metres (200 ft) drop.
These waterfalls are magnificent and impressive. Relax and enjoy the spectacular natural beauty of waterfalls. Water from upstream cascades down jagged limestone cliffs into turquoise blue pools of various sizes. There you can enjoy a refreshing swim. Adventurous can walk up the steep path to the top of the falls for a spectacular view.
The locals charge an entrance fee of 20,000 kip to visit the site, but it is well maintained with walkways and bridges to guide the visitor.
Kuang Si waterfall the rescue centre cares for a number of Asiatic Black Bears that have been rescued by the Lao authorities from the illegal wildlife trade. They are supported by Free The Bears Fund Inc. (an Australian charity) and does not charge an extra entrance fee but you can support them by purchasing their goods.

The best season to visit Kuang Si waterfalls is during the the dry season from December to May, when the monsoon season has finished and the cascading pools have settled again. During the monsoon season, we recommend Tad Sae Waterfalls.
It takes about 40 minutes one way to the falls. Stay at the falls for about 2 hours, and it will soon be lunchtime. You can use the local eateries in the falls, but there are also alternatives that have received good reviews from tourists on Google Maps and TripAdvisor.
